Boardwalk to the Beach

The path from the village to the beach used to be a swampy trail that many villagers had to trudge through on their way to work. Our employees would often have to bring a change of clothes with them after wading through the mud. The beach also happens to be the only place in the village that can get a cellular signal. This is not a great concern for most villagers, but is the only way our teachers can communicate with their loved ones. A large student group staying at Casa Cayuco spent four days building a raised boardwalk all the way to the beach with the help of 20 villagers. This project required 4,000 board feet of wood, 600 yards of logs and 4,000 nails to complete. The new boardwalk cuts travel time down by 15 minutes and allows teachers direct access to the beach.
