Our Facilities

Casa Cayuco fronts on a beautiful sandy beach and backs up to the rainforest. Squawking parrots will wake you in the morning, and deep-throated frogs will lull you to sleep at night. Sea breezes blow nearly every day, keeping us cool and comfortable.

In designing Casa Cayuco, our dream was to build a tree house. But as the property did not have the right trees for such a project, we built our three storey post and beam lodge to closely resemble a tree house. The first floor houses our dining room, kitchen, bar, and a sitting area. The second floor of the lodge has two guest rooms, "Mono" and "Rana," and the third floor room "Loro" is our home. We serve all meals family style in our open-air dining room.

Surrounding the main lodge are three cabins. "Delfin" and "Tortuga" are on the beach and have spectacular views of the bay and the volcanoes on the distant mainland. "Coco" cabin is set closer to the jungle; it is surrounded by flowers and still boasts a pretty view of the water.

All the lodging facilities are open-air and equipped with overhead ceiling fans. Each room and cabin has its own private bath, with hot and cold running water.

In our effort to have a minimal impact on the surrounding environment, our electricity is generated from the sun. Solar panels are mounted on the main lodge and the cabins roofs. Our roofs serve also as our water catchment system. All our fresh water comes from rainwater and is then filtered for our use.

Casa Cayuco is remote by choice. We are a 45 minute boat ride from Bocas town, adjacent to the National Marine Park of Isla Bastimentos. All our supplies are transported out by boat.

You can swim right off the white sand beach, or from our large thatched roof dock. Hammocks hang under the dock's roof and offer a perfect spot for some quiet reading or watching the pelicans feed. Walk along the beach or venture into the nearby rainforest looking for monkeys and sloths. Being "away from it all" has its advantages!
