Our Facilities & Accommodations
Casa Cayuco sits on a small swath of land sandwiched between a beautiful white sand beach and the lush rainforest. Our resort is remote by choice. We are a 45-minute boat ride from Bocas Town, adjacent to the National Marine Park of Isla Bastimentos. Squawking parrots will wake you in the morning, and deep-throated frogs will lull you to sleep at night. Sea breezes blow nearly every day, keeping you cool and comfortable.
In our effort to have a minimal impact on the surrounding environment, our electricity is generated from the sun. Solar panels are mounted on the main lodge and the cabins roofs. Our roofs serve also as our water catchment system. All our fresh water comes from rainwater and is then filtered for our use.
The Main Lodge
In designing Casa Cayuco, our dream was to build a tree house. But as the property did not have the right trees for such a project, we built our three-story post and beam lodge to closely resemble a tree house.
The first floor houses our dining room, kitchen, bar, and a sitting area. The second floor of the lodge has one guest suite called Rana, while the remainder of the second floor and a room on the third floor comprise our home.
Gourmet Meals
Here at Casa Cayuco we believe a key to a great vacation is amazing food! Your stay with us includes three gourmet meals a day plus snacks, coffee, and tea. Dinner is the highlight of the day with a 3 course meal that includes a generous pour of wine or beer.
We work hard to source the freshest local ingredients to be used in the preparation of all our dishes. We regularly have access to locally caught fresh seafood, organic raised greens, and farm fresh eggs. Our gourmet chefs blend these and many other exotic ingredients to create savory flavors that will amaze any palette. All of our meals are served family style in the restaurant on the first floor of the main lodge. Although we do not offer a menu to order from (meaning all meals are chef’s choice) rest assured, we are able to accommodate any dietary restrictions you may have.
Celebrating a special occasion and/or just prefer a meal on your own? Just let us know and we’ll be happy to arrange a private meal on your cabin porch or our dock for an additional fee.
The Beach & Dock
Our private, beautiful white sand beach is less than a minute´s walk from anywhere on the property. You can swim right off the beach, or from our large thatched roof dock. Hammocks hang under the dock’s roof and offer a perfect spot for some quiet reading or watching the pelicans feed. Walk along the beach or venture into the nearby rain forest looking for monkeys and sloths.
Trails
Where we are located there are no roads. All locals and tourists use footpaths to get from one place to another. These same paths serve as a wonderful trail system that includes numerous options for all walking/hiking abilities and interests.
CABINS
Cabins are stand-alone structures and include large covered porches for relaxing and enjoying the surroundings.
Our accommodations are quality constructed of natural materials and built with the comfort of our guests in mind. Each is very spacious, open-air, and equipped with fans. All contain orthopedic mattresses, insect nets, private baths with hot and cold running water, solar-powered outlets and Wifi Internet access. All accommodations are cleaned daily by our professional, local staff.
LODGE SUITE
Our spacious one-room suite called Rana is located on the 2nd floor of our main lodge. Although not as private as our cabins, Rana is a comfortable accommodation with birds-eye views of the property.
